Connected to downtown by three identical suspension bridges (known locally
as the Three Sisters), the North Shore used to be known mostly for warehouses
and flophouses. But now this narrow strip of land between the Allegheny
and the railroad is booming, with new cultural institutions like the Andy
Warhol Museum, gleaming new office buildings, and new riverfront housing.
